One press of the fullscreen button
Instead of covering the monitor, the video becomes a small window that always stays on top. When you leave fullscreen on the site, it returns to its original size and position.
Open OTT and many other video sites straight from the home screen and enjoy watching. Switch to fullscreen and the video becomes a small PIP window, so you can keep watching while doing other things. Publicly available videos can be saved easily in the format and quality you want.

PIP (picture-in-picture) shows a video in a small window so you can watch it alongside other work.
SecretVideo turns the video into a PIP window the moment you press a site's fullscreen button.

Instead of covering the monitor, the video becomes a small window that always stays on top. When you leave fullscreen on the site, it returns to its original size and position.
Drag the window wherever you like and grab an edge to resize it. The last position and size are kept for next time.
Choose Back to normal window, turn Always on top on or off, or Exit.
Turn off Enable PIP when entering fullscreen in the menu to watch on the whole monitor, like a regular browser.
This window is a copy of the program screen.
Click through the steps above.
Nothing connects to a real site or downloads a file.

The videos and addresses are examples for illustration. The home screen is the same one the program opens first.
Gather the video sites you visit often on one screen and open them right away. Add or remove sites as you like, or restore the original list.
Pick the save format from Original · MP4 · MP3, and the quality from 720p · 1080p · Best quality. For MP4, formats that play well on TVs and default players are chosen first.
See thumbnails and progress at a glance. Double-click to open a file, or right-click to open the source page or save folder, or remove it from the list. When saving several videos, up to 3 run at once and the rest follow in order.
Press Ctrl+P to save not just the visible part but the entire page, including what continues below, as a single PNG.
Use the record button or Ctrl+R to record what you are watching as MP4 with sound. Sound from other programs and Windows notification sounds are not included.
The main window's position, size and maximized state, the PIP window's position and size, and the Download List window's position are restored the next time you run it.

Choose Format Settings → MP3 in the menu, then press the download button. Only the audio is saved and converted to MP3. The quality setting does not affect MP3.
Choose Format Settings → MP4. At the same resolution, the widely compatible H.264 format is chosen first, so it plays well on default players and TVs. Original saves the format the site provides as is (merging into MP4 when needed).
In Download Quality, choose 720p · 1080p (default) · Best quality. 720p and 1080p mean "up to that resolution", so if that quality is not available, the next lower one is saved.
Try switching to Download Speed → Stable. It fetches one piece at a time and holds up well on unstable connections. On a fast connection, Fast, which fetches several pieces at once, is much quicker. The default is Normal. First check that the video plays properly; if it still fails, refresh the page or replay the video and try again.
The initial save folder is your PC's Downloads folder. Change it with Folder Settings in the menu and open it with Open Folder. If a file with the same name exists, it is not overwritten; a number is added, like (1), (2).
Turn off Enable PIP when entering fullscreen in the menu. Fullscreen then uses the whole monitor, like a regular browser.
Press Ctrl+P. The entire page, including what continues below, is saved to the save folder as something like SecretVideo-001.png, and a notification appears. Handy for keeping posts, comments or subtitle screens.
Press the Record button to the right of the address bar, or press Ctrl+R. The button changes to a stop icon; press it again to stop, and the recording is saved as something like SecretVideo-001.mp4. The recording size is the window size when you start, so set the size you want first. If you move the window while recording, the recording follows it, and if you close the program, what was recorded up to that point is saved.
Open Download List from the menu. Double-click to open a file, press Delete to remove it from the list, or right-click to choose Go to Source · Open Folder · View Log · Delete. Closing the window or pressing Esc only hides it; downloads continue. Pressing the download button on a video that is already saved or being saved opens this window to show its status.
Use Edit on the home screen to add or remove sites, and Reset to restore the original list. Keeping only the sites you use often makes choosing quicker.
In Settings → Shortcuts in the menu, change Screen capture (default Ctrl+P) and Start/stop recording (default Ctrl+R). Click a field and press the key you want; it is set right away. Backspace restores the default key for that action only, and Esc cancels without changing anything. Keys already used by another action are not accepted.
In Settings → General, set Hardware acceleration to Off. Drawing the screen and playing videos are then handled by the CPU instead of the graphics card. The change takes effect after restarting the program.

SecretVideo does not update itself. New versions are posted on this page and on Kilho.net after internal checks.
It automatically switches a website's fullscreen video to a PIP window, so you can watch the video while doing other work.
Yes. You can freely adjust the PIP window's position and size and keep it always on top, and the last settings are remembered automatically.
Many video sites are supported. Use may be restricted depending on each site's policies and copyright, so check each site's terms of service before using it.
Even publicly available videos remain under copyright. Copying or redistributing beyond personal use may violate copyright law, so check each site's terms of service and obtain the copyright holder's permission before using it.
Yes. SecretVideo is freeware: free to use at work, at home, in government offices and schools, and you may share it freely as long as it is unmodified.
It downloads the components needed to save videos (runtime · download engine · converter). A progress window appears only the first time; after that, updates are downloaded in the background only when something has changed.
Apart from exchanging videos with the sites you open, it only checks for new versions, downloads and updates components, and sends error reports when the program closes unexpectedly. No usage history or statistics are sent.
It follows the Windows display language. If the program does not have that language, it appears in English.
For security and to avoid antivirus false positives, it does not update itself. New versions are posted on this page and on Kilho.net after internal checks; just download and install.
